The central library run by Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt is a specialised academic collection with approx. 80,000 items in all. Originating in the library of Moritzburg Art Museum, Halle an der Saale, its holdings mainly reflect the museum's profile, covering the fields of painting, graphic art, sculpture, photography, numismatists and handicrafts.


Visitors to the library are given access to a multifaceted collection of historical and current artist monographs, along with national and international exhibition and auction catalogues.

Location and use

The library is currently located in the premises of the Neue Residenz (Domstrasse 5) in Halle an der Saale. The entrance is across the courtyard, to the left of the tower.

It is a reference library, and is open to the public from 9 a.m.–12 noon, Monday to Friday. Visitors are, however, requested to phone in advance due to local circumstances.
