Digitisation

In 2012 the ongoing, systematic digitisation of the extensive collections of Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt began with a three-year funding project at Moritzburg Art Museum, Halle an der Saale. Since then, some 120,000 data sets from seven different museums have already been brought together in the Kulturstiftung database.

The aim is to digitise all of the objects and works managed by Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt, including the roughly 250,000 paintings, drawings, watercolours, prints, photographs, sculptures and works illustrating the handicrafts and design, along with coins, banknotes and medals, which comprise the extensive collections of Moritzburg Art Museum, Halle an der Saale. To this end, a central digitisation office was established, as was a working group which meets regularly to deal with the challenges of modern collection management in the digital age.
